During 2011, The British Standards Institute published BS 8599-1: 2011 Workplace First Aid Kits. This clearly established a standard for workplace first aid provisions; the contents of the new kits are more appropriately aligned with today’s workplace risks and first aid needs.
Quantity:
The contents of a BS 8599-1 first aid kit meet the needs of the modern workplace. It is recommended that low risk workplaces have at least one large first aid kit per 100 employees. High risk workplaces should have at least one large first aid kit per 25 employees. It is also advised that a first aid kit and a first aider can reach a casualty within 60 seconds of an initial call for assistance.
