Purpose:

This course is designed for individuals who are working in settings which are high risk or are not easily accessible by the emergency services.  

Delivery:

The course is delivered across three days, or in shorter sessions for flexibility (for up to 10 weeks).  Sessions times can be arranged to meet your needs (weekdays, weekends, daytime or evening).  The courses are delivered and assessed by accredited trainers and assessors.

Entry requirements:

Candidates are required to be at least 14 years of age prior to certification.

Content:

  • Roles and responsibilities of the first aider

  • Incident management

  • Primary and Secondary survey

  • Choking

  • Bleeding and blood loss

  • Shock

  • Minor injuries 

  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints

  • Suspected head and spinal injuries

  • Suspected chest injuries

  • Burns and scalds

  • Eye injuries

  • Dealing with sudden poisoning

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Suspected major illness

     

Assessment and Certification:

Practical assessment is ongoing, and theory assessment is via question papers. 

Certification is valid for three years, though an annual updating course is recommended.  Candidates are required to complete the 2-day Level 3 First Aid Requalification (QCF) course within three years of certification. 

 

All candidates will receive a first aid manual.
