Purpose:

 This 1-day course is designed to give people the confidence, skills and knowledge required to be able administer CPR and Defibrillation (AED).  This course is available to first aiders and non-first aiders.

Delivery: 

The course is delivered for 6 hours (one day), or in shorter sessions for flexibility.  Session times can be arranged to meet your needs (weekdays, weekends, daytime or evening).  The courses are delivered and assessed by accredited trainers and assessors.

Entry requirements:

Candidates are required to be at least 16 years of age prior to certification.

Content:

  • Chain of survival
  • CPR
  • Safety considerations
  • Correct use of the AED
  • Choking

Assessment and Certification:

Practical and oral assessment will take place throughout the course, i.e. the instructor will assess candidates by observation and oral questioning.  Candidates will also complete a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.

Certification is valid for three years, though an annual updating course is recommended.

All candidates will receive a CPR and AED manual.
